Halloween 2021 pt1: Corazon

We’re in spooky season again, and guess who is back on their boo-shit? It’s a pretty easy guess.

This season I wanted to create more looks. Two jobs, two dogs, two kids. Someone pray for me. For this year I had to find a heart. More importantly I needed a human like facsimile. So pork it is. Now. I don’t condone the killing of animals for senseless reasons. However. I do accept that animals are killed for food and I believe in honoring the animal’s sacrifice by using all parts. We don’t need to split hairs or talk morality here. We aren’t about to argue.

Living in the city I do, there are Hispanic markets all over town. Let me tell you. A tiny white girl in a non-English speaking market gets a lot of attention. Now when said girl asks the meat tender for a “corazon de cerdo,” people back up. I even heard whisper of “bruja.” I‘m not about to argue with a hermano.

Finally after 2 weeks of freaking people out.

Including my poor vegetarian friend.

I froze at the counter and was too nervous to ask the man for the heart. I looked over at her.

You’re not about to ask your vegetarian friend to ask for a pig heart

I ended up paying 8.67 for 3 hearts and a candy duck- don’t ask me- I walked out of there with the biggest dumb ass grin on my face. A quick trip to Spirit Halloween and I got my blood (oops) and some other small things. My next day off I got started. It took 5 hours of make up and playing with scar wax (for the first time). I even put on claws. Before I realized I needed to put on my outfit and my wig. Finally to it and I get out everything. The heart, the blood, the space. And this wouldn’t be one of my stories without something going wrong. The bottle of blood turned out to be blood GEL. I had to spill it and play in it to get the right consistency

We can guess at this point that its time for that disclaimer.
